First Aid for Children is a comprehensive one day course provides participants with the skill and knowledge to safely provide first aid intervention and assistance for infants and children presenting with a range of illness and injury.
This course is interactive which allows participants to put theory into practice at regular intervals throughout the course.

FAQ’s
Q. What is the requirement for a childcare service regarding First Aid Training?
A. person trained in “first aid for children” is required to be available to the children at all times. Currently there is no accredited paediatric first aid course. Where a person has undertaken training in paediatric/first aid for children and has supporting documentation this is acceptable.

Q. How can staff be sure that the training they are undertaking is up to standard?
A: There is no accredited first aid course specifically for use with children and it has been the practice for staff in early years services to undertake training that has been adapted to take account of paediatric emergencies. There is no suggestion that this training has been below standard. However, because the training courses are not accredited, there has been no guarantee of quality. The DCYA recommends that early years staff who are availing of first aid training for the first time should undertake the First Aid Response (FAR) training from a training provider – also known as a “recognised institution” – approved by the Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council (PHECC). The FAR Standard, which was developed by PHECC, offers appropriate training to individuals who require a first aid skill set for both adults and children. In addition to setting the standard, PHECC is responsible for approving organisations to become PHECC-recognised institutions to deliver the training. This means that the quality of the training delivered by these organisations and their instructors is approved by PHECC.

Our Instructors
Paul is the lead instructor for the Paediatric First Aid course with DX2 Training Solutions since 2010, he currently holds a Dip in emergency medical technology from Northeastern university in the USA giving him Paramedic status here in Ireland as well as multiple instructors certificates. Paul’s fourteen years as a paramedic working on emergency ambulances in Dublin has provided him with extensive experience dealing with ill or injured children.
Dan is a qualified paramedic with a diploma in Emergency medical technology from Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and a graduate diploma in emergency medical science from UCD. Along with Dan’s many years of clinical practice he also holds a diploma in continuing education and training from NUIM, is a Paediatric Education for Pre-Hospital Professionals Coordinator and a Paediatric First Aid for Caregivers and Teachers Coordinator.
Troy has been a paediatric first aid instructor with DX2 Training Solutions since 2011, he currently holds a BBS in emergency services and a Dip in emergency medical technology from Northeastern university in the USA giving him Paramedic status here in Ireland. Troy has fourteen years experience working on emergency ambulances in Dublin giving him an extensive insight into ill and injured children.
Dermot is a qualified advanced paramedic with a diploma in Emergency medical technology from Northeastern University and an higher diploma in Emergency medical technology from UCD. Along with Dermot’s many years of clinical practice he also holds a diploma in continuing education and training from NUIM. Dermott’s experience as an advanced paramedic continuously places him in situations caring for ill and injured children.
Dave is a qualified paramedic with a diploma in Emergency medical technology from Northeastern University USA. Along with Dave’s many years of clinical practice he also has three children giving him both professional and personal experience with ill and injured children.
